A place of encounter
The Erich Schickling Stiftung, meeting place of art and religion.
In a unique unity of painting, architecture and nature, the artist Erich Schickling (1924 - 2012) created a Gesamtkunstwerk over 60 years in Eggisried near Ottobeuren, idyllically situated in the Günztal.
Since 1999 the Erich Schickling Stiftung has been a valued meeting place and educational centre for art, music, nature and religion. Visitors are offered a rich programme of events as well as regular guided tours of the estate and introductions to the artist's pictorial works.
"Sun for the soul" is what visitors find here, not just since the creation of the Glückswege in the Kneipp year 2021, but all along. For the artist and his wife Inge gladly opened their estate to all lovers of art and nature from the very beginning.

Musical relationships in the work of Erich Schickling
The deep way music moves people is already evident in antiquity and in the Old Testament. In figures such as the singer Orpheus, the biblical King David or the flute-playing Pan, the painter found expressive messages of divine presence.
Impressions
The extensive work of Erich Schickling comprises reverse glass paintings, pictures of mythical character, landscapes, floral still lifes and large-format paintings with themes from Greek mythology and architecture.
To the works
"It is important to me to illuminate, through painting, the hidden meaning that is laid within us. Directly, it is again and again glass that is the medium which fascinates me: not to create likenesses, but, in the parable, to become aware of the transcendent in me and in everything."

Works | Influence | Light
An illustrated book under this title was published in 2024 by Kunstverlag Josef Fink to mark the artist's 100th birthday. The book is available at the Erich Schickling Stiftung.
The publication follows the biographical and artistic traces of an artist whose "wonder at the miracle of creation" found radiant expression in colour, space and light.
