Illustrated volume „WERKE - WIRKEN - LICHT“

To mark the 100th birthday of the artist Erich Schickling (1924 - 2012), a comprehensive illustrated volume has been published, reproducing his most important stained-glass window cycles, his painting and architecture in outstanding illustrations. Alongside commissions in public spaces, the path to sacred art opened up for Schickling soon after his studies in Munich, a path he was able to follow over the course of his life with stained-glass windows, altar crosses, mosaics and Stations of the Cross pictures in more than 60 churches and chapels throughout Germany.

At the same time, at his artist's home in Eggisried near Ottobeuren, an extensive body of reverse glass paintings and large-format paintings on biblical and mythological themes came into being, as well as landscape pictures in tempera. In the middle of the Günztal, visitors to the Erich Schickling Stiftung are welcomed by a Gesamtkunstwerk of architecture, art and nature that has grown over more than 50 years.

This volume „WERKE - WIRKEN - LICHT“ (Josef Fink Kunstverlag) traces the biographical and artistic paths of an artist whose "amazement at the wonder of creation" found radiant expression in colour, space and light.
