Musical connections in the work of Erich Schickling

We do, however, recommend advance registration for your exhibition visit. The times may change. Further preferred times can be arranged.

Admission is €10, and €5 for members of the Circle of Friends. The other exhibition rooms of the Foundation gallery as well as the meditation room with glass windows are included.

About the exhibition

The deep way music touches people is already apparent in antiquity as well as in the Old Testament. In figures such as the singer Orpheus, the biblical King David, the Homeric sirens or the flute-playing Pan, the painter found and invented archetypes of the soul, expressive messages of divine presence.

Whether Bach's St Matthew Passion, Mozart's The Magic Flute, Schubert's string quartet "Death and the Maiden" or Stravinsky's "The Firebird" - numerous motifs in Erich Schickling's pictures and glass windows are owed to the inspiration of music. The special exhibition in the gallery rooms of the Erich-Schickling-Stiftung shows this connection through exemplary works and explains it in texts, videos and audio.
