In connection with the Literaturfestival Allgäu-Schwaben
The world and an interest in people are the intellectual home of his literary and journalistic work, especially the world and the history of Eastern Europe, on which he taught at the universities of Konstanz and Frankfurt/Oder (Europa-Universität Viadrina) until 2013. He remains ever attached to his Allgäu homeland and to Hawangen, the place of his childhood. The neighbourly proximity to the Günztal and to the site of the Künstlerhaus Schickling, and above all the point of reference "Prague", makes it possible to welcome Prof. Schlögel in Eggisried. Not only the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, but also, most recently, the Reuchlin Prize, is indicative of the universal significance of his work.
