Whit Monday with piano music

Works by J.S. Bach, Alexander Scriabin and Franz Schubert

Anyone who has experienced the tradition of the Eggisried concerts on Whit Monday will remember that it was above all the day on which the pianist Kaya Han (†2021) played as a soloist or in various chamber music formations, in particular with her daughter Ena Han as a duo or in a trio with the percussionist Isao Nakamura.

This time we get to celebrate a musical Whitsun with Arabella Pare! Her programme starts with Schubert and flows into Schubert. She will explain why, in between, she ventures a dialogue between two seemingly utterly opposed composers and stylistic eras. It is about the principle of many-voiced writing, of polyphony, which occurs in Baroque piano writing - in prelude and fugue - just as it does in the highly virtuosic études of a Scriabin.

Arabella Pare studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music London, the Musikhochschule Lübeck and the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. In 2019 she completed a doctorate on the fragmentary piano sonatas of Franz Schubert. As a pianist she performs as a soloist and in chamber music, including in England, the USA, Switzerland, Italy and Germany.

Since 2022 Dr. Arabella Pare has held a professorship for research and interpretation at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.

She has been artistically connected with the Erich-Schickling-Stiftung for several years, and since 2021 also as vice-chair of the Circle of Friends.
